Texas City Tall Boys Name Jose Guerra as Head Coach for Upcoming Season

TEXAS CITY, TEXAS — The Texas City Tall Boys are proud to announce Jose Guerra as the team’s Head Coach, bringing a wealth of playing experience, coaching knowledge, and a deep passion for the game to the organization.

A Houston-area native, Guerra is a graduate of Eisenhower High School and currently serves as the Head Baseball Coach at Shadow Creek High School. His coaching career began in 2010 as an assistant at Valley View High School before returning to the Houston area in 2017. As a player, Guerra was a shortstop at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and briefly played independent baseball with the Harlingen WhiteWings in the United Baseball League.

“Baseball has always been at the center of my life,” said Guerra. “Whether it’s coaching, playing, or simply being around the game, it’s something I’ve always been passionate about.”

For Guerra, joining the Texas City Tall Boys represents more than just another coaching opportunity, it’s a chance to impact players and the broader community.

“Representing this organization is an opportunity to continue growing as a coach while helping develop aspiring baseball players,” he said. “It’s about building meaningful relationships that extend well beyond the game and being part of a community that truly values baseball. I’m proud to represent an organization that brings people together.”

Guerra emphasizes a process-driven approach to success, focusing on daily improvement and team alignment.

“Success starts with the daily commitment to improvement,” Guerra explained. “While everyone wants to win, we believe results come from trusting the process and consistently doing things the right way. When our players align their individual goals with the team’s mission, we put ourselves in a position to succeed, not just this summer, but in their continued careers.”

What excites Guerra most is the opportunity to work closely with a group of motivated athletes and help them take the next step in their development.

“Bringing players together and sharing our staff’s knowledge is what motivates me,” he said. “Seeing young talent grow and advance in their journey is one of the most rewarding parts of coaching.”

Beyond wins and losses, Guerra has a clear vision for what the Texas City Tall Boys will represent.

“I want this team to stand for growth, character, and a true love for the game,” he said. “Our players are role models for younger athletes in the community, whether they realize it or not. We want to inspire the next generation and continue growing the game by showing how exciting and challenging baseball can be.”

With Guerra at the helm, the Texas City Tall Boys are poised to build a culture rooted in development, discipline, and community impact, both on and off the field.
